Wonder Woman Scales Above 700 Million

Wonder Woman is a 2017 American Superhero film released in the US on June 2, 2017.The movie is based on the DC comics, character of the same name distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. The movie has made more profits than Suicide Squad or Batman v Superman ever were during their domestic box office runs. The movie had Gal Gadot as the titular character along with others in supporting roles.

The film has now earned $346.1 million in 31 days of domestic release, besting the (unadjusted for inflation) likes of Spider-Man 3 ($336m), The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers ($342m), Guardians of the Galaxy ($333m), Alice in Wonderland ($334m) and Zootopia ($341m). It is currently the 42nd-biggest domestic grosser of all time. Once it gets past American Sniper ($350m), Furious 7 ($353m), Deadpool ($363m) and The Secret Life of Pets ($368m), it’ll be the second-biggest domestic grosser that isn’t a Disney movie (behind only Universal’s Jurassic World) since The Hunger Games: Catching Fire ($424m) back in 2013.

Set in 1918, the film tells the story of Princess Diana, who grows up on the Amazon island of Themyscira. After American pilot Steve Trevor (Pine) crashes offshore of the island and is rescued by Diana, he tells her about the ongoing World War. She then leaves her home to end the conflict, becoming Wonder Woman in the process. Development for the film began in 1996, with Jenkins signing on to direct in 2015. Principal photography began on November 21, 2015, with filming taking place in the United Kingdom, France, and Italy before wrapping up on May 9, 2016, the 123rd birthday of the creator, William Moulton Marston. Additional filming took place in November 2016.

Wonder Woman(Gal Gadot) was first Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, Diana meets an American pilot  who tells her about the massive conflict that’s raging in the outside world. Convinced that she can stop the threat, Diana leaves her home for the first time. Fighting alongside men in a war to end all wars, she finally discovers her full powers and true destiny.
